इरानले शुक्रबार युद्धविराम सम्झौतापछि होर्मुज जलसन्धि व्यापारिक जहाजका लागि खुला गरेको थियो, तर शनिबार जलमार्गमा जहाजमाथि आक्रमण भएपछि पुनः बन्द गर्ने घोषणा गर्यो। इरानको इस्लामिक रिभोल्युसनरी गार्ड कोर्प्सले अमेरिकाले आफ्ना बन्दरगाहमाथिको नाकाबन्दी नहटाएसम्म कुनै पनि जहाजलाई जलसन्धि पार गर्न नदिने चेतावनी दिएको छ। यस अवरोधका कारण विश्वव्यापी तेलको मूल्य बढेको छ र खाद्य तथा हवाई यातायातको आपूर्ति शृंखलामा समेत गम्भीर असर परेको छ।
