यस वर्षको वसन्त ऋतुको आरोहण अन्तर्गत बुधबार एकै दिन २७४ जनाले सगरमाथाको सफल आरोहण गरी नयाँ कीर्तिमान कायम गरेका छन्। मिङ्मा दोर्ची शेर्पाको नेतृत्वमा रहेको टोलीले वैशाख ३० गते शिखरसम्मको बाटो खुला गरेपछि आरोहणको औपचारिक सुरुवात भएको थियो। यस सिजनमा विभिन्न हिमालका लागि १,१०० भन्दा बढी विदेशी आरोहीले अनुमति लिएका छन् भने सगरमाथा र मकालु हिमालमा गरी कम्तीमा पाँच जनाको मृत्यु भएको पर्यटन विभागले जनाएको छ। यसैबीच पासाङ सोनाम शेर्पाले एकै वर्षमा तीन फरक मार्गबाट सगरमाथा चढेर र तेन्जिङ डेभिड शेर्पाले पाँच दिनभित्र तीनवटा हिमाल आरोहण गरेर दुर्लभ सफलता प्राप्त गरेका छन्।
