नेपाल प्रहरीको तथ्याङ्क अनुसार २०८३ सालको वैशाख महिनामा देशभर भएका २,२९४ सडक दुर्घटनामा २३९ जनाको मृत्यु भएको छ। कुल दुर्घटनामध्ये ५० प्रतिशतभन्दा बढी अर्थात् १,२५३ वटा दुर्घटना तीव्र गतिका कारण भएको पाइएको छ। मादक पदार्थ सेवन गरी सवारी चलाउँदा १२४ दुर्घटना भई १२ जनाको ज्यान गएको छ भने चालकको लापरवाही र जथाभावी बाटो काट्दा पनि ठूलो संख्यामा मानवीय क्षति भएको छ। काठमाडौं उपत्यका र विभिन्न प्रदेशहरूमा यस अवधिमा दुर्घटनाको दर उच्च देखिएको छ।
